Biography

John was born in 1823. He is the son of John Boaden and Mary Hendy. “John the son of John Boaden of Trewargy in the parish of Cury in the County of Cornwall, and of Mary his wife, who was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Hendy, was born at Trevargy on the sixteenth day of August” , 1823 and baptized on 11 Sept 1823 at the Wesley Methodist Chapel at Cury, witnessed by J D Henwood, surgeon Helston and Eliz Hendy. In 1841 his father John Bouden 50 was a farmer at Trevergay with Mary 50, John 18, Mary 20, Elizabeth 20, Ann 15, Julia 12 and Emily 7. In 1851 John Boaden 26 was living next door to his parents at Trevargy, with Elizabeth 27, Juliana 4, Ellen 2, Mary 1 all born at Cury, and two servants.
