Nicholas Boehnlein, 87, retired Charlesburg farmer, died Monday night at Mercy Hospital, Oshkosh, where he had been a patient for a week.
A son of the late Joseph and Katherine Meier Boehnlein, he was born at Charlesburg, Dec. 6, 1867. He married the former Barbara Vollmer, Feb. 2, 1893, at St. Charles Catholic Church, Charlesburg, with the late Father John Stecker performing the ceremony. Following marriage the couple settled on a farm one mile south of Charlesburg, which Mr. Boehnlein operated until the death of his wife, Dec. 18, 1943. Since then he had been living on the farm with his son, Alfred, and family.
He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Charles Parish and of the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin, Charlesburg Branch 118.
Surviving in addition to the son, Alfred, are four other sons, Robert of Fond du Lac, Gregor of Marytown, Ben of New Holstein and Anton of Sherwood; four daughters, Mrs. Anton (Verena) Heimermann of R. 2, Chilton, Mrs. Ben (Marie) Golatka of Milwaukee, Mrs. Herman (Elizabeth) Karls of Marytown and Mrs. Alois (Katherine) Halbach of Charlesburg; 37 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Services will be at St. Charles Catholic Church, Charlesburg, with the Rev. Francis J. Melchiors, pastor, celebrant of the requiem Mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
