Ralph was born in 1922. He was the son of Ralph Bohnenstiehl and Annie Werner. He passed away in 2010.
Ralph A. Bohnenstiehl, 87, of East Alton, IL, was born Sept. 18, 1922 in French Village, IL and died at 6:12 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Bohnenstiehl was a machinist for Cerro Copper Co. for 46 years. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 5691, American Legion Post 365, the Moose Lodge, Alton Eagles and Dandy Dancers Square Dance Club. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Collinsville, IL, an avid golfer and gardener. He was also an avid lifetime Cubs fan. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents Ralph L. and Annie A. (nee Werner) Bohnenstiehl; sons, David and James Bohnenstiehl; first wife, Ruth (nee Woods) Bohnenstiehl; and two daughters-in-law Donna and Kathy Bohnenstiehl.
Surviving are his wife Mildred Mense Bohnenstiehl of East Alton, IL, whom he married on July 30, 1994; child Charles (Peggy) Bohnenstiehl of Collinsville, IL., step-children, George (Tara) Nelson of Marseilles, IL, and Carol Ann Hallows of Bunker Hill, IL; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. John United Church of Christ of BJC Hospice.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday Sept. 5, 2010 at Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville, IL.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 6, 2010 at Herr Funeral Home with the Rev. Linda Coulson officiating. Interment will be in Black Jack Evangelical Cemetery in Troy, IL.
