Other names for Johann were Jacob Boon and Johann Jacob Boone. According to German naming customs, Johann Jacob Boon was known all his life as Jacob.

He was a passenger on the Francis and Elizabeth sailing from Rotterdam, arriving in Philadelphia on Sept 21, 1742. The spelling of the last name was done at this time. It was spelled both Boon and Boone after arriving in Guilford County, NC where the Boon's of Daniel Boone fame were located. However it is believed that The Daniel Boone sprang from an unrelated family.

Jacob Boon Will dated January 17, 1795 Book A Page 25:

In the name of God, Amen. I Jacob Boon of the County of Guilford and the state of North Carolina, being of sound mind and perfect mine and memory and calling to mind that is appointed for all men once to die have made, ordained and acknowledge this to be my last will and testament in form and manner following.

And first I recommend my soul into the hands of God that give it and my body to be decently buried at the decision of my executors and as for such worldly goods which God has been pleased to bless me with, I do bequeath in the following manner, and first I order all my just debts to be paid. And then I do give and bequeath unto ADAM WHITESELL, my son-in-law, one tract of land containing fifty acres adjoining the land of Andrew Gibson and Michael Charles. And likewise I do give and bequeath unto my daughter MARGARET WHITESELL my bed and furniture and all my belongings thereunto. And I do likewise give and bequeath unto ANNE BOON, my granddaughter, JACOB BOON and JOHN BOON, my grandsons, the sum of nighty pounds in gold and siver to be equally divided between them the said Anne, Jacob and John thirty pounds each to be paid when they become of age. And then I do bequeath unto JOHN BOON son of MARTIN BOON deceased the sum of twenty five pounds hard money providing he shall give his brothers and sisters an equal part of the land left by his father when he comes of age and if not I leave him five shillings only. And I give and bequeath unto DANIEL BOON, MARTIN BOON, and CATHERINE BOON, children of MARTIN BOON deceased twenty five pounds each to be paid them as they come of age and also they have the above mentioned twenty five pounds left their brother the same to be equally divided between them providing he doth not give them equal pat of the land left by his father but if he doth it then to have his equal part. And whereas ADAM WHITESELL my son in law hath got one hundred pounds of my estate already in his hands I order that he shall not have any more until the children of MARTIN BOON deceased have got their hundred pounds and then the remainder of my estate to be sold and equally divided between my daughter, grandsons, and granddaughters. And I do appoint ADAM WHITESELL and JOHN BOON Seniors, my executors. And I have herto set my hand and seal this 17th of January 1795.
