Biography

Herbert was born in 1913. He was the son of John Borgelt and Emma Kessler. He passed away in 2010.

Obituary: Herbert R. Borgelt, 96, of Concordia died Jan. 23, 2010, at the Lutheran Nursing Home at Concordia.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Concordia with the Rev. R. Lee Hagan officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Borgelt was born on Aug. 16, 1913, at Nashville, Kan. He was the son of John George and Emma Kessler Borgelt. He married Ora Della Dierker on April 17, 1938. He had spend most of his life in the Concordia area. He had been a farmer in his younger years. He was the business manager at St. Paul's College in Concordia, retiring in 1978. He was a member of St. Paul's church and the church Men's Club.

Mr. Borgelt is survived by his wife of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Ed (Doris) Cline of Jamestown, N.C., Mrs. Markus (Joanne) Reinke of Concordia, and Mrs. Neal (Phyllis) Stuerke of Sweet Springs; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sons in infancy; three brothers, Fred Borgelt, John Waldo Borgelt and Alvin Borgelt; and five sisters, Esther Borgelt, Ruth Schlickelman, Alma Bargfrede, Opal Bruss and Eunice Fuehring.

The pallbearers were John Reinke, Paul Reinke, Ryan Bodenstab, Jason Tuohey, John W. Fuehring, John Borgelt and Tom Curtis.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Lutheran Good Shepherd Home or St. Paul's Foundation for the Future.

Arrangements were made by Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home, Concordia.
