8th May 1915, Place of embarkation Melbourne on A14 HMAT "Euripides".
Proceeded to join M.E.F Gallipoli, 30th August 1915, disembarked ex Mudros at Alexandria 10th January 1916. 4th February 1916 to Hospital sick Mumps Canal Zone, transferred to 4 Hospital with Parotitis, Telelkebir. Discharged 26th February 1916.
1st April Proceeded to join Unit Ghezireh, 11th May 1916 Taken on Strength Abbassia. 22nd July 1916 Admitted to Hospital Gingivitis. 6th August 1916 rejoined Unit Abbassia. 19th November 1916 Out of bounds admonished Cairo. Absent without Leave from 14th -15th November 1916, 9 days forfeiture of pay.
30th December 1916 transferred to Cairo for duty, Moascar. 14th March 1917 Absent without Leave 6pm - 7:30pm 12th March 1917, 14 days forfeiture of pay.
31st March 1917 Joined from Anzac Provost Corps Moascar, 2nd April 1917 Struck off strength to 24th Battn. Cairo. 4th May 1917 Proceeded overseas ex Moascar Embarked for B.E.F per "Saxon" ex Alexandria, for Marseilles
9th June 1917 H/I ex 17th. Field Coy. Engineers, Parkhouse. 10th June 1917 Transferred to 24th Battn. details. Rollestone. 9th July 1917 Proceeded overseas to France ex Rollestone via Southampton.
4th /9th August 1917 taken on Strength France.

W.J.B Bott was last seen at Garter Point, Passchendaele during a fierce German Bombardment. There was practically no chance of his having been taken prisoner.

At Zonnebeke, just as we started attack at 5-30am on 9th Oct. Killed direct hit of shell, nothing found of him afterwards. I was 20 to 30 yards away at the time. Heard the explosion but did not see it burst.
