Biography

Samuel Hurtle Leslie was born in 1888. He is the son of Levi Bott and Agnes Commyns.

1908 Samuel Hurtle Leslie Bott married Grace Adelaide Freak, marriage registered in the district of Nairne, South Australia.
Samuel Bott is an Anzac who served in World War One.

21 March 1916 Samuel Hurtle Leslie Bott enlisted with the Australian Imperial Forces (AIF) age 27 4/12 years, occupation Labourer, married 2 children, wife Grace Adelaide Bott, residence 198 Archer Street, Gawler, South Australia. Issued Service Number 2374B, Rank Private 27th Battalion.

Embarkation "Commonwealth" 19 Sep 1991, Disembarkation Plymouth, England. Proceeded overseas to France per SS "Princess Victoria". Folkestone ( Sts 27th Bn)

1917 Admitted to the Northampton War Hospital, reported gunshot wound right leg. 27th Bat ( late 50th Bat )

1918 Appointed to Lance Corporal .

1918 Admitted to the Edmonton Military Hospital suffering from a gunshot would chest, recorded as severe.

1919 Appointed Temp Division Vice, reverted back to Lance Corporal.
