"BOUMA -- Robert W. Bouma "Bob", 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1979, went home to the Lord on Saturday, February 7, 2009. Mr. Bouma was born December 10, 1921 in Grinnell, Iowa where he was a Grinnell College graduate and received his Master's in music education from the University of Iowa. He began teaching in Iowa and Colorado public schools and retired in Albuquerque after teaching in Alamogordo, Los Lunas and Jemez Springs. Mr. Bouma was a past Master of Masonic Lodge #60, and belonged to the Scottish and York Rite Temples. He had been active as a member of the Lions Club and as a Boy Scout leader. Mr. Bouma's hobbies included stamp and coin collecting, miniature train collecting, and piano tuning. He served in the Army during WWII. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jule Bouma; sister Jean Ruth; daughter Linda Kessler and husband Mel of Annapolis, MD; stepson William Herman; grandson William Bouma and wife Renee; granddaughter Shellie Bouma; grandsons Michael and Matthew Kessler; 5 great-grandchildren; and sister Jean Ruth. He was preceded in death by his son Robert W. Bouma, II. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service to be held Saturday, March 14, 2009, 11:00 a.m., at Chester T.
