Luke Brinley, a mason and Quaker from Leek, Staffordshire, emigrated to Philadelphia in 1682 on the ship Adventure. However, he is also claimed to have been a resident in Burlington, New Jersey on December 5, 1678.[1]
Luke was granted a Certificate of Removal from the Fallowfield Monthly Meeting "held in Joshua Dale's house," dated the first day of "ye 3rd month, 1684". He was entered as a member of Falls Monthly Meeting in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and is named in various land and legal records there from 1684 to 1701.[1]
At least two sons, James and Alexander, are attributed to him.
Research Notes
No evidence has been found to support the claim that Luke was the father of Elizabeth (Brisley) Davis.
