Biography
William was born in 1845 in Lincoln. He was the son of William Brook and Elizabeth Winn. [1]
William went to Tonbridge School in Kent.
William married Bertha Findeisen on 8 July 1869 in Chorlton in Lancashire. [2]
In the 1871 EWS Census, William is recorded as living at Northwich Road, Appleton, Warrington with his wife Bertha and their son Norman (nine months old); together with a cook, nursemaid and housemaid. William’s occupation is given as “solicitor”.
In the 1881 EWS Census, William is recorded as living at The Glen, Burbo Bank, Great Crosby in Lancashire, with his wife Bertha and children Norman (10), Charles (9), Evelyn (7) and Ernest (6), together with three servants. William’s occupation is given as “solicitor employing five clerks; brewer employing 14 men; and maltster employing five men”.
William was town clerk in Warrington n the 1880s.
In the 1891 EWS Census, William is recorded as visiting the hydropathic clinic at Matlock House, 40-42 Hyde Road in Manchester with his wife Bertha. William’s occupation is given as “solicitor”.
He passed away on 6 January 1897 at 100 King Street, Southport in Lancashire. The cause of death was recorded as phthisis pulmonatis. William’s occupation was given as solicitor. His wife Bertha registered the death, giving her residence as Olive Grove, Wavertree near Liverpool. [3]
