Biography
Mathilda Brophey was born on January 12, 1894, in Hubbard, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Robert Brophey and Sarah Schutz. She married Arthur Godfred Mayer on June 28, 1913, in Dodge County, Wisconsin. They had six children during their marriage. She died on January 16, 1970, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the age of 76, and was buried in Horicon, Wisconsin.

MRS. MAYER OF HORICON DIES AT 76
Mrs. Mathilda Mayer, 76, former Horicon resident, died Friday afternoon at St. Luke’s Hospital, Milwaukee.
Mrs. Mayer was born Jan. 12, 1894, in the Town of Hubbard, Dodge County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brophey. She was married to Arthur Mayer June 28 1913.
The family resided for many years at Horicon. Mrs. Mayer moved to West Allis 12 years ago to make her home with Mr. and Mrs. Russell Erdman.
Mrs. Mayer is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Erdman, Mrs. Ernst Ipsen, Fox Lake, Mrs. Alfred Sawejka, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Myles Beardsley, Racine; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Arnold; one daughter, Rosemary; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; one brother and one sister.
Mrs. Mayer was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Milwaukee. Funeral services for Mrs. Mayer will be held at Ulmer Funeral Home, Horicon, at 2 pm. Monday. The Rev. Karl Barth, Milwaukee, will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday.
