Charles Browning was born about 1753, a son of Nicholas Browning and Sarah Washburn^[1] Charles married Frances Wright.^[2][3]

Charles Browning was named as the son and heir of Nicholas Browning in his will which was written on 23 Oct 1786 in Caswell County, North Carolina, USA. Charles, along with his siblings Francis, John, Mary and Elizabeth were to be "cutoff from having any part or right or title to any of my Estate herewith. I am now possess with only one Shilling Sterling to each of them at my decease." All others names in the will were Sarah (wife), Sarah (daughter) and Jane/Jean (daughter), Enos (son), and Edmund (brother).^{[4] [5]}
