Alex Buls died 14 February 1950 at home in Elma, Howard, Iowa.^[4] The funeral was held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Elma, Iowa with burial 17 February 1950 at Howard Cemetery, Elma, Howard County, Iowa.^[2]

Alexander Buls Obituary

Elma - Funeral services were Friday for Alex Buls, 82, who died suddenly at this home Tuesday. He was born March 3, 1887 in Tripoli and received his education in the public schools at that place.

On July 21, 1910 he married Sophia Stueber at Artesian. He leaves eight children; Walter, Waterloo; Mrs. Harlan Averhof, Elma; Clarence, Saratoga; Mrs. Herbert Eifler, Saratoga; Mrs. Ben DeVries, Orchard; Mrs. Harold Berentsen, Alta Vista; Loraine, Waterloo; Donald, at home. One daughter died in infancy.

Mr. and Mrs. Buls farmed in Bremer County for three years then moving to Howard County, living north of Elma until five years ago, when they moved to their home in the east part of town. Mr. Buls death was the result of coronary thrombosis.^[3]
