Biography

Levi Burcham was born in 1772 in North Carolina.[1][2] On 11 August 1798, when he was 26 years old, he married Ann Wiatt in Christian County, Kentucky[3]. Levi, Ann, and their children settled in Hickman County, Tennessee.[4][5] On the 1820 census, Levi and Ann are recorded along with five children - three girls and two boys.[4]

Ann died sometime between 1830 and 1837, and Levi married a woman named Lucinda.[6][2][7] Between 1840 and 1845, Levi and Lucinda moved to Tishomingo County, Mississippi along Henry Burcham, Levi's son from his first marriage to Ann.[8] Levi and Lucinda had four children together - Nancy, Levi, William C., and Lucinda Jane.[2]

Levi died in 1858 and was buried in Burcham Cemetery in Burnsville, Tishomingo, Mississippi.[1]

Research Notes

There are two men named Levi Burcham who were born in North Carolina around the same time. The relationship between the two men is not known.

The other Levi Burcham was a Quaker, married a woman named Nancy, and lived his entire life in Surry County, North Carolina and Grayson County, Virginia.
