Mary married Samuel R. Miller and had 2 male children under 5 years of age. They lived in Cocke County, Tennessee, in 1830.[1]
By 1840, the family had increased to 9 children, and they were still living in Cocke County.[2]
The family moved to Buncombe County in North Carolina before 1850. The Census named Mary and 11 children at home. [3]
In 1851, part of Buncombe County was formed into Madison County so on the 1860 Census they lived in Madison County, and they had 3 more children. [4] By the 1870 Census all the children had left leaving just Samuel and Mary. They had returned to Cocke County, Tennessee and lived in the "Big Creek Depot" post office area of "District 13". [5]
By the 1880 Census Mary was Widowed and she lived with her daughter Nancy's small family in Grassy Fork, Cocke Couty, Tennessee. Her parents were born in Virginia and her occupation was "Keeping House". [6]
Mary died sometime after 1880 and was reportedly buried at the Byrd Branch Cemetery, also known as the William K. Byrd Family Cemetery in Burnsville, Yancey County, North Carolina. Find A Grave: Memorial #72432376[7]
