George Camps was born around 1825 in Cambridge, England, the son of George Camps.

George and Eliza, with two children, Lydia and Lucy, migrated to Australia in 1853 on the ship 'Caroline'.^[8]

George died in 1890 in Sandhurst, Victoria, Australia, aged 65 years.^[9] His remains were buried at the Eaglehawk Cemetery in Eaglehawk, Victoria.^[10]
