Arthur William CARLIER was born on 6 October 1907, in Broken Hill, New South Wales (NSW), the son of Charles CARLIER and Sarah CHESTER.[1][2]
At some point, he moved to South Australia (SA).
He served in World War II. Enlisted on 6 July 1940 in Adelaide SA. Service number SX8210, Australian Army. Discharged on 13 August 1940 as a Private in 2/8 F AMB. Next of kin Mary CARLIER.[3]
In 1943, he is recorded as living at 18 Liston Street, Parkside SA, with his father, with an occupation as a waterside worker.[4]
Arthur married Lorna Mary in the mid-1940s.[2] The couple had one child, a son – Robert.[2]
He last resided at 34 Clare Street, Woodville North SA.[5]
Arthur died, aged 52 years, on 10 October 1960, in a hospital in Adelaide SA.[6][2]
His funeral service was held (officiated by the Rev R E Saunders), and he was interred (buried), on 11 October 1960 in the North Road Cemetery, Nailsworth SA.[5]
According to his service papers he was born 16 May 1901 in Adelaide. However, there are no SA birth registration to confirm this. The NSW birth registration has correct parents and age at death more closely aligns.
