Christopher was born in 1702. He was the youngest son of Sir Walter Clarges, 1st Baronet Clarges of St Martin in the Fields and his third wife, Elizabeth Gould. He was baptised on 22 March 1702 at Westminster, London, England. [1]
He was a Lieut Colonel in the Royal Irish Regt of Dragoons, commanded by General Mostyn.
