Jacob Close was killed in St Clair’s Defeat on 4 November 1791.

Alexander Dowdle (Dowdal, Dowdel other spelling variations) serving with Jacob Close, deserted on 9 August 1791. He married Jacob Close’s widow, Joanna (Farrow) Close, in 1796 in Nelson County, Kentucky.
