Biography

Thomas Connors was born about 1841 in New Brunswick. He was the son of Patrick Connors and Ellen Gilfoyle.

In the 1851 census Thomas, age 10, was a son in Moncton, Westmorland (county), New Brunswick.[1]

Thomas married Mary Ann Connors on 11 Sep 1866 in Grande-Digue.[2][3][4] They were both noted as being from the parish of Shediac. Witnesses were Michel Connors (his brother) and Joanna Hagerty (his sister-in-law).

In the 1871 census Thomas, age 30, was in Moncton, Westmorland, New Brunswick.[5]

In the 1881 census Thos, age 39, assistant task manager(?), was in Newcastle, Northumberland, New Brunswick.[6]

Research Notes

Thomas's parents were not named in his marriage record. There was also another Thomas Connors who was born about the same time in the Shediac/Grande-Digue area (son of Bryan Connors and Mary Fogarty). In 1946, Martin Connors declared that he was the uncle of Thomas's son Alfred Edward Connors, born 18 Aug 1867 in Shediac (he also declared he was 18 years older than Alfred, so Martin was born about 1849).[7] Therefore, Thomas was the son of Patrick Connors and Ellen Gilfoyle.
