Obituary of David Coon in The Sabbath Recorder, Vol 15, No 7, p 27, July 22, 1858.
In Walworth, Wis., June 9th, David Coon, aged 73 years. Bro. Coon professed religion in early life, became a member of the Hopkinton Church in 1806, and some years afterward removed his standing to the 2d Brookfield Church; and for the last few years has resided in Walworth, whence he was summoned away to join the church triumphant, whose names are written in heaven.
The disease of which he died was lingering and painful, and for some weeks previous to his death, he could not speak above a whisper, yet he bore it with patience and resignation; and though he felt an assurance that to depart and be with Christ was far better than to remain in the body, yet he was willing to wait God's time, and in such a frame of mind he quietly fell into the sleep of death.
