Eliza Cowan was born in Ireland and emigrated to the United States, possibly as early as 1820, where she married James McGrew, Jr. on the 5th of March, 1829. They had three children James Cowan McGrew (b. 6/28/1830), William McGrew (b. 12/18/1831, and Margaret (b. 11/8/1841), but only William survived to marry and have children. A niece (apparently orphaned) also lived with and was raised by James and Eliza. She and her husband were among the early settlers of Butler County, Pensylvania, and were founding members of the United Presbyterian Church in Prospect Pennsylvania. She passed away approximately 13 years after her husband, on Dec. 8, 1881.

Source 12 seems odd (1850 census residence in Jefferson Co.,, Ohio) when the biography suggests Eliza Cowan McGrew lived in Butler County, PA, most of her life and died there. This source may belong to another Eliza McGrew - perhaps McGrew-116.
