Biography
On March 18, 1857, Augustus R. Creecy wed Mary Pearce in Chowan County, North Carolina. Subsequent records would show four known children:
- Edward A. 1859 NC
- William Beauregard 1862 NC
- Charles est 1867 NC
- Judson est 1869 NC
There is an 1850 census of Chowan County that shows spouse Mary as born about 1836 to Cader(?) and Harriet Pearce.

The 1860 census of Edonton, Chowan Co., NC shows the couple with son Edward, born about 1859. The death record of William Beauregard Creecy in Washington, DC in 1930, reiterated that William was also a son of Augustus R Creecy and Mary Pearce, and was born to them in 1862.
The August 1870 census of Edenton, Chowan, North Carolina, the reader of the record couldn't decipher, so noted the last name as "C*Cy". This report showed parents Augustus and Mary, with William, his older brother Edward, and younger brothers Charles 1867, and Judson 1869.
Estate records in 1872 and subsequent dispute over the will in 1873 show 1872 as when Augustus R. Creecy passed away.
Parents of Augustus not known, but four Creecy men were living in Chowan, NC per the 1840 census. This is where Augustus got married, so likely relatives of his, perhaps one being his father.
- In upper Chowan, Robert Creecy(abt 1795), wife Perthina(per marriage record)
- In Edenton, Chowan, Jerry Creecy, not marked in age column, no sons marked.
- In Lower Edenton, Richard Benbury Creecy(abt 1815), sons marked too old.
- In Lower Edenton, Charles Creecy(next door to Richard) with one son in the age group that would fit Augustus Creecy.
