Biography
Henry Dadson has English ancestors.
Henry Dadson was born in 1874 in Southwold, Elgin, Ontario, Canada. He was the son of William Dadson (born Kent, England) and Charlotte Goodhue (born Port Stanley, English).[1] He may have had eleven siblings.
He grew up on his father's farm in the midst of a large family. In the 1881 census, Henry (age 7), was living with his father William (age 48), mother Charlotte (age 39), and nine siblings in Southwold. Their faith was Church of England.[2] About a year later, his father William Dadson (age 49) died; about June 1, 1882.
In 1899 Henry married Aggie Lethbridge in Port Stanley, Elgin, Ontario, Canada. He was about 23 yrs. old and residing in Yarmouth, Elgin, Ontario. Henry was Presbyterian and a farmer. Aggie was about 20 yrs. old, of Methodist faith and living in Southwold, Elgin, Ontario. The wedding was witnessed by Mary and William G Payne of Port Stanley. It was officiated by A H Goring and was by License.[3]
In the 1901 census Henry (age 27, farmer) was living with his wife Aggie (age 22) in Ekfrid township, Middlesex (west/ouest), Ontario, Canada. They were of Presbyterian faith. Living with them was a servant; John Harris (age 15, born Ontario).[4]
In 1909, they had a son Lloyd Thomas Dadson in Southwold, Elgin, Ontario where they had relocated.[5][6] Later, they had two daughters: Violet May (Dadson) Lale in 1916 and Helen Margaret (Dadson) Jones in 1918.
In the 1921 census, Henry (age 46, farmer) was living with his wife Aggie May (age 41), and children: L Thomas (11), Violet May (5), and Helen M (2) in Southwold. They lived in their owned wood house on their owned farm.[7]
Tragically, they lost their son Lloyd to pneumonia when he was 17 yrs. old in 1926. He was a student in Toronto, Elgin, Ontario at the time.[8]
In the 1931 census Henry (age 57), Farmer/gen. farm, was living with his wife Aggie (age 52), and two daughters: Wolet May (Violet, age 15), and Helen M (age 12), in Southwold Township, Elgin, Ontario, Canada.[9]
Henry passed away about September 13, 1954 in Elgin, Ontario Canada at the age of 80 yrs. old. He is buried beside his wife Aggie in Union United Church Cemetery, Union, Elgin County, Ontario, Canada.[10]
