Biography

Mary was the eldest of 10 children born to John and Eliza "Bessy" Dermody in Freshford, Kilkenny, Ireland. According to the Catholic Parish Records, Mary was born 22 May 1862 in Leugh. The Dermody family farms were located in the townlands of Ballyphilip, and later Boherkyle. Mary was the first of the children to emigrate to the United States. She was later joined by her brother Denis and youngest sister Elizabeth.

Mary died on 01/22/1929 and is buried in an unmarked grave next to her husband Patrick in section B of Mount Saint Peter's Cemetery in Derby, CT.[4]
