Sir Robert Douglas was a member of the aristocracy in British Isles.

Robert was the son of Robert Douglas and Janet Patterson[1][2][3] born 1694.[citation needed]

Sir Robert was the compiler of The Peerage of Scotland and The Baronage of Scotland.[4]

He married firstly, Dorothea, daughter and co-heiress of Anthony Chester, attorney general of Barbadoes.[5][3] They had no issue:[5]

He married secondly Margaret Macdonald.[6][7][8][5][3] They had issue:

  1. Robert, d. young[5][3]
  2. Alexander, heir apparent[5][3]
  3. William, d. in infancy[5][3]
  4. Janet Douglas. m. Kenneth Mackenzie, 2nd son of Donald Mackenzie baron of Kilcoy,[5][3] b. abt. 1740 Glenbervie, Kincardineshire, Scotland

He married thirdly Anne, daughter of Alexander Hay of Huntington.[5][3] They had no issue.[5]

He died 24 Apr 1770.[3]
