Biography

Maria Antonina Dragna is born in Corleone, the daughter of Vincenzo Dragna and Leoluchina Marino, who married in 1883. She is named after her paternal grandmother, as is traditional for the first born daughter. I estimate she is born the year after her parents marry, making her eighteen at her own marriage.

Maria Antonina marries Biagio Zabbia, son of Antonino Zabbia and Giuseppa Paternostro, on 19 October 1902 in Corleone.^[1]

Biagio and Maria Antonina have thirteen children: Giuseppa (1903), Antonino/Tony (1905), Carolina/Lorraine (1907), Vincenzo/Charles (1908), Rose (1910), Lucy (1912), John (1914), twins Paul and Frank (1916), Angela (1918), Carl (1923), Carmela (1926), and Thomas (1930).^[2]

Giuseppa is born in Corleone on 26 October 1903.

Antonino is born in Dallas, Texas, on 7 March 1905.^[2] His baptismal record calls his birthplace "Davis, Texas."^[3]

Carolina is born 23 January 1906 in Dallas, Texas. In 1941, she lives with her mother and is called Lorraine.^[2] Her baptismal record says she was born the following year on the same date in "Davis, Texas."^[4]

Vincenzo is born in Corleone on 13 or 17 October 1908. His mother's naturalization petition says the 17th,^[2] and his baptismal record, the 13th.^[5]

Biagio and Maria Antonina baptize three of their children on 5 January 1909 in Corleone. Antonino's godfather is Giuseppe Zabbia, who is unmarried.^[3] Carolina's godmother is Bernarda Dragna, who is unmarried.^[4] Vincenzo's godparents are Gaetano Mangiameli and Biagia Riina, a married couple.^[5]

Rose is born 7 October 1910 in Dallas, Texas.^[2]

Lucy is born 12 July 1912 in Dallas.

John is born 26 June 1914 in Dallas.

Paul and Frank are born 5 June 1916 in Dallas.

Angela is born 30 June 1918 in Dallas.

Angelo is born 14 March 1920 in Los Angeles, California.

Carl is born 18 May 123 in Los Angeles.

Carmela is born 9 May 1926 in Los Angeles.

Thomas is born 17 September 1930 in Los Angeles.

Tony marries Giuseppa Lotille, daughter of Nicolo’, in California on 24 June 1934.^[3]
