Biography

When Phebe Durland was born in 1788, in Wilmot, Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada, her father, Daniel Dorlandt, was 54 and her mother, Sarah Demotte, was 48. She married Christopher Banks in 1811, in Wilmot, Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 5 daughters. She died in 1836, in her hometown, at the age of 48.

2. Charles, b. 1814; m. Sarah A., daughter of Dea. Alex. McKenzie; 4 children;

3. Cornelia, b. 1816; m. John, son of Alex McKenzie; 7 children;

4. William, b. May 19, 1818; m. Hannah (b. 1823), daughter of Joseph Rankin, Jan. 12, 1840, and had 10 children;

5. Angeline, b. 1820; m. Israel Brooks and d. shortly after;

6. George, b. 1822; m. Rebecca, daughter of Eli Messenger; 5 children;

7. Maria, b. 1824; m. Wm. Crocker, at Middleton, N.S.; 2 children;

8. Sally, b. 1826; m. Solomon, son of James Charlton; 2 children;

9. John Ward, b. 1829; m. Rachel, daughter of Alex McKenzie, 1849; 2 children. She d. 1854, aged 25. m. 2nd Emma Frances, daughter of Geo Warren, and live at Danversport. He was a soldier in the United States Navy.

10. Russell, b. 1831; m. Lovisa Marshall (George, Otis, Isaac); 6 children.

11. Joseph Clark, b. 1834; d. Oct 4, 1857.
