Selina was born in 1878. She is the daughter of Richard Elliott and Mary Blake.^[1]

Possible Husband

• No record for Selina Elliott has been found in the Australian marriage and death indexes.
• Selina's family moved to Warialda by 1885,^[2] when Selina was about 7 years old. Her mother then had children born in Bingara and Moree.
• An Elena Saralla Elliott married Hiram Abif Bedford in Moree in 1903.^[3]
• The Index for Elena's 1961 death registration^[4] lists her parents as Alfred and Mary Jane. This could be interpreted as her mother being Mary Jane Elliott, later Clayton. Although Alfred is inconsistent with Selina's father's name of Richard.
• Although unsourced Elena's Find A Grave memorial ^[5] records a birth year of 1879, which is close to Selina's^[1]
  • There is no entry in the NSW BDM Birth index for an Elena Elliott, daughter of Mary or Jane, between 1867 and 1883.
• Noting that "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence", this suggests the possibility that Selina Elliott and Elena Saralla Elliott, wife of Hiram Bedford, are the same person.
• Selina may be the Mrs. H. A. Bedford, of Moree, mentioned in the North West Champion's report of Ernest Clayton's Motoring Fatality.
• Further corroborating evidence is required before their profiles are merged.
