Biography

George Vane or Fane of Badisley (or Badsell) in Kent was born about 1511, the son of Richard Fane / Vane and Agnes Stidulf (daughter of Henry Stidulf of Badsell).[1][2]

George's first wife was Joan Waller (d. 1545), daughter of William Waller of Groombridge in Kent.[1]

Among their children were two sons, both named Thomas:[2]

  1. Sir Thomas Fane, 7th of Bergavenny (ca. 1510-1589) (by Joan Waller)[1]
  2. Thomas Fane (d. 1607)[3]
  3. Mary (Fane) Ashburnham, married John Ashburnham[4]

His second wife was Elizabeth Hendley, daughter of Sir Walter Hendley of Corsehorne in Cranbrooke.[1]
