Biography

Pauline was born in Indiana [1-3] in 1917 to Orvan [2] and Vera (Martin) Floor [1 & 3]. She lived a short life and died in 1923 [3-4] as a result of a tragic accident [4]. She was buried in Akron I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Fulton County, Indiana.

4. The Fort Wayne Sentinel for July 14, 1923, Page 24 carried an obituary for Pauline Floor. It read: "BURNS FATAL TO LITTLE CHILD Gasoline Engine Exhaust Sparks Ignite Clothing of Pauline Floor. LIVED FOR THREE HOURS. WABASH, Ind., July 16--Pauline Floor, aged six, little daughter and only child of Mr. and Mrs. Orvan Floor, was burned to death late Saturday afternoon when exhaust sparks from a gasoline engine ignited her light summer clothing. Pauline, with some other children. was playing in the yard of the Paul Floor home, near Disko, Wabash county. One of the children started the gas engine which was used for sawing wood. Pauline happened to be standing near. Mrs. Paul Floor heard the child's screams and ran to her assistance, but before Mrs. Floor could reach her, her clothing was burned from her body. The little girl died three hours later."
