Biography

John Folks is a part of US Black heritage.

John Folks was born a free man about 1768. He is recorded as being a passenger on the Schooner Fidelity’s Company that arrived Monrovia, Liberia on 29 July 1823. He was 55 years old, a cooper and he could write. He emigrated from the state of Maryland. He was traveling with a W. Folks, age 10. It is not known how they are related.

John died from a drowning accident in 1828.
