Biography

The following is from "Paul Silas Fulmer and Susannah Bowers Fulmer, Children and Family History," compiled by Kirk Thomas, 2005, for a Fulmer Family Reunion.

"Mabell was born December 18, 1886 in Lexington County near Chapin, S.C. She attended St. Peters Lutheran Church with the family and recieved her education in Chapin.

"Mabell married William Allen Epting on December 28, 1903 at the home of her parents with the late Rev. A. S. Beck, Pastor of St. Peters (Piney Woods) Lutheran Church officiating.

"Mabell and Allen moved to the Macedonia section of Newberry County and became active in the Macedonia Lutheran Church. Allen served on the church council at various times and Mabell was active in the Lutheran Church Women. Mabell was a homemaker and Allen farmed and later operated a ferry on Lake Murray to support their family.

"In the early thirties, Allen, Mabell and their family moved to the Silverstreet section of Newberry County and all became actively involved in Silverstreet Lutheran Church. Allen served on the church council and Mabell was a life member of the United Lutheran Church Women. Mabell continued as a homemaker and Allen continued farming as long as health permitted.

"Mabell died at the age of 72. As she performed the chores of a homemaker, mother, and wife, she demonstrated wonderful Christian characteristics to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mabell and Allen are buried at Newberry Memorial Gardens, just outside of Newberry on the Prosperity Highway."
