Biography

Sarah Ann was born about 1848. the daughter of William Gaskell.^[1]

Sarah's marriage to Alfred Johnson was registered in the Jul-Aug-Sep quarter of 1868 in the Manchester district.^[2] Their daughter Phoebe Hannah Johnson was bon on the 11 April 1869 and was baptised on 17 September 1871 in St Michael, Macclesfield, Cheshire, England.^[3]

Alfred died aged 22 and was buried on 20 January 1870 in Bollington (near Macclesfield), Cheshire, England.^[4]

Francis John Green, 24 year old widowed collier, son of farmer Joseph Green, married Sarah Ann Johnson, 24 year old widowed daughter of William Gaskell (cotton spinner), on 15 October 1872 at Prestbury, Cheshire, in the presence of his sister Elizabeth Green and her future husband William Braddock.^[1]

The 1881 Census shows Sarah Ann Green (40) living with her husband, Francis John Green, 32 year old railway labourer, and children James (7), Janey (5), Elizabeth (3) and Ellen Eliza (1) at Adlington, Cheshire.^[5]

In the 1891 census Sarah (age 51) was the wife of Francis K Green in Gorton, Lancashire, England.^[6]
