Biography

Florence Elizabeth Gaskell was born on 7 October 1842, at Manchester, Lancashire, England.^[1][2] She was christened on 11 January 1843, at Manchester, Lancashire, England.^[3] Florence was the daughter of William Gaskell (1805-1884) and Elizabeth Cleghorn Stevenson (1810-1865).

Florence married Charles Crompton (1833-1890) on 8 September 1863, at Brook Street Unitarian Chapel, Knutsford, Cheshire, England.^[4][5]

She passed away on 5 October 1881, at South Kensington, Middlesex, England.^[6] Florence is buried at St Mary's Churchyard, Willesden, England.^[7]
