DANIEL GILSON born 28 March, 1736 in Groton, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts the son of Joseph and Sarah/Mary (SHEDD) GILSON; died in Schenectady, NY on 13 January, 1779; married 27 November, 1760 in Groton, MA to Alphia KENT the daughter of Abner and Elizabeth (ROE) KENT who was born in Groton 20 October, 1731; removed from Groton to Dunstable Mid’sex Co., MA previous to 22 May, 1778 for on that day the church in Groton made up a contribution to Daniel Gilson of Dunstable, on account of having his house destroyed by fire, of 32 pounds, 15 shillings, 10 pence, one pair of shoes, one bushel of rye and one bushel of Indian corn. Daniel served the cause of Independence at the Battle of Bunker’s Hill and in Gen. Horatio Gates Division in all of its engagements until 17 October, 1777.
