In 1861 she lived at Granville Street, Sheffield with her parents and brother, John. Her father was a Solicitor's Clerk.[2]
In 1871, Mary lived at the Barrell Inn, 120 Pond Street, Sheffield with her parents and brother William. Her father was a Licenced Victualler. When the census was taken sixteen other people are at the Inn, 15 listed as lodgers and one, 22 year old Mary Bunting, is a Domestic Servant.[3]
Mary's father passed away two years later in 1873. [4]
Mary's mother married John Young on 21 November 1873 at St Pauls Church, Pinstone Street, Sheffield, Yorkshire. [5][6]
Seven years late on 22 November 1880 Mary married George Young, son of her step father John Young, at St Pauls Church, Pinstone Street, Sheffield, Yorkshire. George is a green grocer and Mary is a waitress. George's father is a publican and Mary's father is William Greenhough, Clerk. Witnessess are John Arnold Greenhough and Elizabeth Anne Tunnard. [7] They had three daughters and two sons, but sadly their daughter, Clara, died soon after her birth in 1883.
in 1881 Mary and George are is living with Mary's mother at the Midland Railway Hotel, 131 Pond Street, Sheffield. Her mother, now Emma Young, is head of the household and a publican. Emma's husband, George's father is not at home. Also at the Midland Railway Hotel is Mary's brother William. Rosa Booth (20) is a servant at the Hotel.[8]
In 1891 Mary and George lived at 74 Pond Street, Sheffield, Yorkshire. With them were their children Louisa (9), George (6), John (4) and Ada (1). George was a
Horse Dealer. [9]
DNA matches between 'Moss' and at least ten other 'Greenhough' probable descendant names (Johnson, Steel, Trout, Bean, Furniss, Miller, Simpson, Arnold, Young, Cameron, Banks) in the range 11-34 c.M have been found (ref.'Ancestry').
