Donald Loyd Griffin was born on January 30, 1933 at his parents home on a tobacco farm in Shelby Township, Jefferson, Indiana, United States. He was the son of Gerald William Griffin (1909 - 1971) and Wauneta Opal (Jackson) Griffin (1911 - 1991).^[1],^[2]

The minister of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church baptized him in an area creek.

In the 1940 census Donald (age 7) was the son of Gerald W. Griffin living on Beecamp Road, Jefferson, Indiana.^[3]

In the 1950 census Donald (age 17), Farm Helper, was the son of Gerald Griffin in Shelby, Jefferson, Indiana, United States.^[4]

He was a graduate of Central High School in 1951.

Don served on active duty in the Air Force of the United States from April 8, 1952 to February 25, 1953.^[5]

Don met Alice Marie Baker (1935 - living) at their place of employment, Bohn Aluminum Company, in Greensburg. They were married three months later in the home of her parents on June 26, 1955 in Greensburg, Decatur, Indiana.^[6],^[7]

Their only child was their son Marc Lyn Griffin J.D. (1956 - living).

In 1974, he was appointed a Special Constable in White River Township, Johnson County, Indiana. Interestingly, his sixth great grandfather, Richard Griffin, had been appointed a Constable in Lunenburg County, Colony of Virginia, 228 years earlier, in 1746.

On 7 November 1978, he was elected a member of the township advisory board in White River Township, Johnson County, Indiana.^[8]He was re-elected on 8 November 1982.^[9]

Don died on November 6, 2002 in Saint Francis Hospital, Beech Grove, Marion, Indiana aged 69.^[10],^[11],^[12] He was buried in South Park Cemetery, Greensburg, Indiana.^[13]
