Biography

Tommaso Guadagna is a Corleone native resident, the son of Pietro and Maria. His mother's surname is not yet known. I estimate Tommaso is born around 1724, twenty years before he marries.

Tommaso marries Carmela Mondello on 9 August 1744. His father has died by this time, and his mother is living.

Tommaso and Carmela have at least five children: Pietro (c. 1749), Calogera (c. 1752), Giuseppa (c. 1760), Giovanna (c. 1760), and Bernarda (1769).

I estimate Pietro, named after his paternal grandfather, is born around 1749, twenty years before he marries.

Calogera is born around 1752, based on her reported age at death.

Giuseppa is born around 1760, based on her reported age at death.

Bernarda is born and baptized 29 March 1769. Her godparents are Giuseppe and Caterina Firmaturi, a married couple.[1]

Giovanna is born around 1770, based on her given age in 1807, making her only ten years old when she marries for the first time. I estimate she is born around 1760.

Pietro marries Vincenza Gennusa on 5 October 1769.

Calogera marries Paolo Gulotta on 22 September 1771. Her parents are living at this time.

Giovanna marries at least twice, first to Biagio Briganti on 24 September 1780. Her parents are both still living.

Less than eight years later, Giovanna remarries, on 20 January 1788, to Gaetano Oliveri. By this time, Tommaso and Carmela have died. This record does not mention her previous marriage.

Giuseppa marries Gaetano Birtone on 29 June 1789. This record calls her father "Innocenzo" and says that Carmela is still living.

Bernarda marries Santo di Puma, a widower, on 12 January 1796. This record says her father, Tommaso, has died, and her mother, Carmela, is living.

A death record that may be Carmela's indicates she dies at age 70 (b. 1732---twelve years before Carmelo and Tommaso marry) on 1 November 1802. See her record for more information.

Calogera dies at age 80 (b. 1752) on 21 December 1832. She is the widow of Paolo. Her mother has died by this time.

Giovanna dies at age 85 (b. 1752) on 14 December 1837, the widow of Gaetano. This record calls her late father "Francesco."

Giuseppa dies at 80 years of age (b. 1760) on 4 December 1840, the widow of Giovanni.
