Biography

Charlotte Hadley was born in the United Kingdom circa 1837.

The ship ”Clara” arrived in the Colony of Western Australia on the 3rd September 1853. The Clara carried a human cargo of 48 married couples with their children numbering 101 and 124 single females. [1][2] Charlotte was one of the single women and girls on board.

Charlotte (Hadley) Carson was an Assisted Immigrant to Western Australia.

On arrival the girls who had not secured a position of work from the Immigration Agent, John Bruce, or Captain before, during or on arrival in Fremantle were moved directly from the ship to the Servant’s Home in Perth where they were housed and fed until a suitable position was found for them.
