Biography

John Hardman was born about 1804 in Prescot, Lancashire, England.

John married Margaret Sixsmith on 22 Jul 1822 at St Helens Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. Both were of the local parish; the witnesses were Elizabeth Martin and Henry Woods.

Their daughter Ann was born in about 1827 in Prescot, Lancashire.

Their daughter Elizabeth was born in about 1830 in Eccleston, Lancashire.

Their son John was born in about 1835 in Liverpool, Lancashire.

Their son Joseph was born in about 1836 in Liverpool, Lancashire.

Their daughter Sarah was born in 1840 in Prescot district, Lancashire.

By June 6th 1841, the family was living in Lane Ends, Eccleston. John was a carter; as well as John and Margaret and their children, the household included Margaret's sister Mary Sixsmith, and a labourer named Francis Hollihead.

By March 30th 1851, they were still in Lane Ends, Eccleston, John was a carter, and Mary Sixsmith was still living with them. Three of their children, and two grandchildren were also in the household on the night of the census.

By April 7th 1861, they were in St Helens Road, Eccleston. John was still a carter, and Mary Sixsmith was still living with them.

Margaret died in 1868 in Prescot district; her age was recorded as 67.

By April 2nd 1871, John was with his married daughter Elizabeth Heyes and family in Sutton. He was a labourer.

John died in about 1875 in Prescot district; his death was registered in the first quarter of the year, and his age recorded as 72.
