Robert's birth was registered in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter of 1906 in Bury, Lancashire, England.^[1] According to the 1939 register, Robert was born 20 September 1906. He is the son of Allen Hardman and Elizabeth Anne Balmer. He married Alice H Golding in 1929 in Bury, Lancashire, England. He died in 1974.

Robert Hardman (bachelor, labourer, age 23), son of Allen Hardman, labourer, (deceased), and Alice Hilda Golding (spinster, age 22), daughter of James Golding, joiner (deceased), were married by M. S. Baylin on 7 December 1929 in Elton, All Saints, Lancashire, England.^[2] He lived at 17 Livsey Street and she lived at 114 Tottington Road. Witnesses were John Procter and Elizabeth Hastings.
