Biography

The son of Matt Houston Harrington and Mary Belle (Hollis) Harrington, Willie Harrington was born in Throckmorton, Texas^{[citation needed]} in 1908, residing there with his family.^[1]

Willie married Juanita Alberta Kelley (1914-2003), the daughter of William Rivers Kelley and his first wife, Margaret Jane Rogers, marrying in Throckmorton, Texas on August 17, 1925^[2] and having six children together. They made their home together in Throckmorton County, near Throckmorton, farming. In 1930, Willie was enumerated on the federal census in his parents' household, with his occupation listed as a laborer, perhaps working on the spring planting with his father.^[3] In 1940, Willie was enumerated with his wife and children at their home in rural Throckmorton County, where he farmed.^[4]

Willie registered for the World War II draft when he was 32, registering in Throckmorton, Texas on October 16, 1940.^[5] He stated that he lived in Throckmorton County and that he worked for himself; Willie was described as 5'8" tall and 235 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. He did not enlist, and continued to live and farm and ranch in Throckmorton County.^[6]

Willie Harrington passed away at Throckmorton County Memorial Hospital^[7] at the age of 73 and is buried at Throckmorton Cemetery in Throckmorton, Texas.^[8]
