(Prior households had a hand hewer and a range maker in them, so I assume that by 1851 the family had moved from Cleuch Burnfoot into the actual village, rather than the census page "Village" also including the vicinity of Forth) [1]

yDNA
Relationship to father confirmed by DNA as two descendants of William (2nd cousins to each other) have DNA tested, both to Y-DNA67 and only match 65/67 ! Their actual relationship is 2nd cousins, far closer than these results predict. They have however formed a new branch on the yDNA haplotree - see yFull R-Y29908
A third descendant (GPH) a 3rd cousin to the above now (Feb 2020) also matches at 37 markers: GD 1 and GD 2 to the above 2nd cousins, the MRCA between all three being James b. 1813 Lecropt, Stirlingshire.
Haplogroup R1b1, with the current terminal SNP being R-BY19859 (aka R-Y29908, down from R-S7361).
See also DNA Surnames for further DNA information on this branch of the HENDERSONs - we are still looking for hints as to where grandfather Archibald came from prior to his springing to life fully formed as a blacksmith in the Bridge of Allan, Stirlingshire.
atDNA
Relationship to father confirmed by DNA (at least) via triangulated segment on Chr 07 from 15-23 mbp.
The triangulation involves:
Ian Dick (GedMatch T247554), a descendant of James' brother William
two descendants of James' son William:
Lorna (GedMatch T087062) and Bill (Gedmatch T340674), and
J M Robertson (GedMatch T610222) a descendant of James's daughter Mary
Further back the segment may be from Margaret McEwan, rather than Archibald Snr however as we have a yDNA conundrum between different lines to investigate.
