Shelby D Higgs, 80, of Vine Grove, KY passed away Monday, September 9, 2013 at University of Louisville Hospital, Louisville, KY.^[1]

Mr. Higgs was a member of Buck Grove Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Air Force. His memberships include: American Legion Post #113, Elizabethtown, KY; a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge and he was retired from Henry Vogt Machine Company, Louisville, KY.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham & Hulda Higgs; 2 brothers, Raymond Higgs, Delbert Higgs; and 1 sister, Pearl Farris.

Survivors include:

His loving wife of 53 years, Reva M. Higgs of Vine Grove, KY; 2 children, Shelby Earl Higgs & his wife, Eveline of Vine Grove, KY, Karen Ocasio & her husband, Alex of Louisville, KY; 5 grandchildren, Karen Dayle-Horsley, Jeffrey Higgs, Justin Ocasio, Kyle Ocasio, Kaelyn Ocasio; 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Dean Beasley and Shirley Embry.

Mr. Higgs’s funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 13, 2013 at the chapel of Coffey & Chism Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY with Brother Dave Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, Kentucky with military honors.
