Biography

Cinda was Muskogee.
Dawes Enrollee
Creek by Blood
Dawes Card number 3151

Cinda Hill was born in the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, Indian Territory about 1887, the daughter of George Hill and Jennie (Tiger) King, both Muscogee. She appears with her mother, listed as "Jennie Tiger" on the 1890, 1895, and 1896 Creek Censuses. [1] Cinda is listed by herself on her Dawes Card, #3151. [2] Her grandfather, Tobe Tiger, filed an application for a land allotment on her behalf in January, 1902. [3]

Cinda married Washington Sampson, also Muskogee, about 1903. They were the parents of a son, Wiley, born in 1904. He was enrolled by his mother on the Dawes Roll in April of 1905. [4]

By 1910 Cinda was married to Amos Rabbit. Amos, Cinda, Wiley, and their infant son Edmund appear on the 1910 U.S. Census with a surname of Harjo (reason unknown). [5]

In 1930 Cinda, listed as a widow, was living in Morris, Oklahoma with her mother, Jennie King, her brother Wiley, and her son Edmond Rabbit. [6] In 1940 Cinda is still living with Wiley and his family. [7]

In 1945 a question was raised about Amos Rabbit's allotment by an oil and gas company. Their letter stated, "An examination of the title shows the property to be owned by Cinda Rabbit, nee Hill Creek Roll 8863, and Edmond Rabbit, her brother. [actually her son] This land constitutes the homestead allotment of Amos Rabbit, a full-blood Creek Indian... " [8]

Cinda died December 31, 1976 [9] and is buried at the Graves Creek Cemetery, McIntosh County, Oklahoma. [10]
