A Celebration of Life service for Wendell Aber Hill, Sr. 90 of Jacksonville will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church, on Southeast Loop 456 in Jacksonville, under the direction of Boren-Conner Funeral Home.
Wendell was born August 30, 1925 in Houston, Texas to Grover Cleveland and Nora Lee Hill. he went home to his Lord and Savior February 20, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents Grover and Nora Hill, his sister Florence Mollie (Pledger) Winstead, son-in-law Dennis Migl, aunt Martha, husband Randell Hill, and aunt Nellie, husband Tommy Hill, aunt Mattie, husband Jervis Hollingshead.
He graduated from Fairbanks High, class of 1945. After serving two years in the Merchant Marines he returned home to begin college at Sam Houston State College then transferred to Texas A&M, College Station and majored in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for many years for National Twist Drill & Tool Company. One of his favorite projects was working on tooling for the Atlas Rocket engines and other projects for NASA. Later he built residential homes in East Texas for five years. Then he went to work for Zimmerman Sign Company as a purchasing agent and stayed for 18-1/2 years. Wendell was a devoted son, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and uncle. He loved his family and spending time with them.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 45 years Anna (Petty) of Jacksonville, ex-wife Madelon (Chase) Berry, son, Harvey Richard Hill and wife Debi, daughter, Sandra Dale Knox and husband Jacky, son Derek Randolph Hill and wife Candy, daughter Susan Elizabeth (Hill) Migl, and son Wendell Aber Hill, II, grandchildren Michelle Hicks, Karon Brooke (Butler) and husband Brandon Monroe, Kyle Blaine Butler and wife Leslie, Cody Richard Hill and wife Shalyn, Garrett Hill, great grandchildren, Brynnley Monroe, Brayden Monroe, London Marie Hill, Callan Richard Hill, Baylor Madelon Butler and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers you may send memorial donations to the First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville in Wendell's memory or to your favorite charity .
