Johann Friedrich Hintz was born on 23 October 1921 in Leipzig, Bessarabia, in the Russian Empire.[1][2] He was the son of Adam Hintz and Juliana Weiss. [3] Johann Friedrich Hintz belonged to the ethnic group of Bessarabia Germans, which lived from 1814 to 1940 in the region at the Black Sea.[4]
