In the 1851 Census of Canada East, Canada West, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia James Hodgins 41 born abt 1811 Ireland, farmer, was head of his household in Huntley, Carleton, Canada West (Ontario). Other Household Members were his wife Eliza 32 Calcutta, C of E, and their children, all born in Upper Canada, William 15, Thomas 14, James 12, Adam 6, Alexander 5, and John 3. ^[1]

In the 1861 Census of Canada James Hodgins 49 born about 1812 in Ireland, married, Church of England, farmer, was head of his household in Huntley, Carleton, Canada West. Other Household Members were his wife Elizabeth Hodgins 40 Ireland, and the children, all born Canada, William 22, Thomas 20, James 18, Adam 15. John 12, Mary Anne 10, Catherine Elizabeth 8, Sundance Jane 4, George Alexander 2. Their servants both born Ireland John Gunford 26 and Mary Curry 24.^[2]
