Sarah was a Friend (Quaker)

Sarah was the daughter of Benjamin Horner and Christian Readshaw. She was born at Leeds, Yorkshire on 21 January 1696/7 (Quaker 11th month 1696).^[1][2]

On 16 February 1728 (Quaker 12th month 1727) Sarah married William Hird, yeoman, of Rawdon, Yorkshire at Leeds Quaker Meeting House.^[3][4] They had at least the following children:

• William, born at Rawdon, Yorkshire on 28 February 1728/9 (Quaker 12th month 1728)^[5][6]
• Benjamin, born at Rawdon, Yorkshire on 27 April (Quaker 2nd month) 1730^[7][8]
• Christiana, born at Rawdon, Yorkshire on 24 November (Quaker 9th month) 1731^[9][10]
• Thomas, born at Rawdon, Yorkshire on 27 June (Quaker 4th month) 1733,^[11][12] died on 9 March (Quaker 1st month) 1736, and was buried at Rawdon Quaker burial ground, Yorkshire: the Quaker death and burial record gives his age at death as two years eight months^[13]
• John, born at Rawdon, Yorkshire on 11 April (Quaker 2nd month) 1735,^[14][15] died on 28 December (Quaker 10th month) 1735 and was buried at Rawdon Quaker burial ground, Yorkshire: his age is given as 8 months in the Quaker death and burial record^[16]

Sarah died on 13 September 1767 and was buried on 17 September at Rawdon Quaker burial ground, Yorkshire. The Quaker death and burial record of Knaresborough Quaker Monthly Meeting describes her as of Rawdon, widow of William Hird.^[17][18]
